Fatigue and sleepiness, anaemia, low Iron
Falling asleep at work or finding you can’t do more than just walk up the stairs before feeling absolutely whacked? We recommend employing a butler (no, not really). Some women can find it extremely hard to stay awake, usually when listening to their husband’s post-match review of the football game! This heavy tiredness also occurs even a few hours after waking up. If you find yourself with your head under the table at work, there are some small changes you could make to relieve that. Ensure you are not low on iron (anaemia) and if not, here are some things to try.

Suggestions from the Maternity Network:

  • Take iron supplements.
  • Sleep as much as you can, you may as well give in to it as your body is the one in control now. No arguments!
  • Ask your partner to cook dinner, prepare meals at the weekend and/or do some housework. This will help you to sleep without feeling guilty or trying to tidy up when you get home. If all else fails, threaten to invite your mother around to live with you for a while to assist with chores, etc that he won’t help out with. You won’t see him moving so quickly.
  • Sleep during the day (especially if you’re setting new records for nocturnal urinating).
