Polycystic ovary syndrome

A normal case for PCOS is a woman who gains weight or is overweight, gets acne or spots and a tendency to feel sad and depressed a lot of the time (not to be confused with ‘time of the month’). The good news is that PCOS is the only weight problem that is entirely due to a hormonal imbalance.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is diagnosed by ultrasound scan of the ovaries and is defined as enlarged ovaries with more than 10 cysts around the edge. You might experience irregular periods, skin conditions, obesity and excess facial or body hair growth.

If you are concerned you may have this condition, pop into your GP for advice.

From a complementary therapy angle some therapies have been successful in supporting a pregnancy with this condition. They include:

Reflexology, Acupuncture, Herbal
